Job summary

St Peter & St James Hospice is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality palliative and end-of-life care across inpatient, community and hospice services. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, support families, and supervise team members within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

The role requires current NMC registration, strong communication, and the ability to work flexibly across shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Experience in palliative and end-of-life care.
• Ability to lead shifts and supervise staff.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality palliative and end-of-life care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care programmes.
• Complete comprehensive clinical assessments on admission and review regularly.
• Administer prescribed medications and manage symptoms for patient comfort.
• Support patients and families in care decisions and bereavement support.
• Lead shifts within the Inpatient Unit and supervise junior staff.
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with NMC standards.
• Collaborate with GPs and community teams for coordinated care.
• Participate in governance, audits and quality improvement.
