Job summary

Sopwell House is seeking a experienced Painter & Decorator for a full-time role in Hertfordshire. The position involves painting and decorating to high standards, with duties including repairs, preventative maintenance, and logbook updates.

You will work under the Maintenance Manager and liaise with other departments to minimise guest disruption. We look for previous hotel/commercial experience, strong health & safety knowledge, and a proactive, reliable approach.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Painter & Decorator role, ideally within a hotel, commercial, or high-quality environment.
• Good knowledge of health & safety practices and safe working procedures.
• Proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented approach to work.
• Professional manner with the ability to remain guest-aware and minimise disruption.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all painting and decorating work is completed to a high standard, following all relevant health and safety guidelines.
• Work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, carrying out daily duties from the defects logbook.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, ensuring all log sheets and records are kept up to date.
• Carry out repairs and project work as required.
• Take full responsibility for completing all assigned jobs to a high standard.
• Liaise with relevant departments to ensure smooth coordination of works.
• Minimise disruption to guests at all times while carrying out duties.
• Report any problems or issues to your manager, or to senior management in their absence.

Full-Time Position (40 hours)

Shifts typically vary between 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. Occasional evening shifts may be required depending on business needs.

Your role in our family:
