Job summary

Leonardo offers a 13-week Summer Placement in Edinburgh for a Software Engineer role. You will contribute to real avionics projects, supported by experienced engineers, with a focus on practical software design and testing.

The programme runs from June to August 2027, paying £25,000 for the placement and potential progression to graduate opportunities. Applicants should be pursuing a relevant degree and show enthusiasm for real-time avionics software.

Qualifications

• Minimum predicted 2:2 in a relevant degree discipline (e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or Electronic Engineering).
• Experience with programming, particularly C++, and a familiarity with UML is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver small work packages on time, cost and quality.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to achieve project targets.
• Communicate with teammates to share knowledge and progress.
• Develop practical software engineering skills across the product lifecycle.
• Present your work to the Head of Software and team at milestones.
