Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 6 Paediatric Nurse for Ward 8 in Preston. You will lead daily ward operations, coordinate clinical care and work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality paediatric services.

The role combines clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, including staff appraisals, training liaison, and ensuring delivery of safe, patient-centred care.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with current NMC registration.
• Diploma or degree in nursing.
• NMC recognised mentorship qualification.
• Evidence of continuing professional development in area of speciality

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day running of paediatric ward, with strong leadership and clinical oversight.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate care to meet patients' health needs.
• Manage personnel, facilities and ward systems.
• Act as a role model and uphold professional standards.
• Coordinate care delivery with multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain high standards of nursing care and patient safety.
• Proactively manage risk and ensure patient safety in line with policies.
• Support patient education and promote health.
• Communicate information to the MDT and external partners.
• Develop own professional competence within the scope of the role.
