Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Paediatric Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to provide strong clinical and operational leadership within the Children's Assessment Unit.

The role offers opportunities to develop junior staff, coordinate shifts, and work closely with the MDT to deliver high-quality, family-centered care in a busy paediatric environment.

Band 5-6 development pathway available. The successful candidate will join a supportive team at our Bedfordshire sites.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in paediatrics or a willingness to develop into a leadership role.
• Excellent communication skills with families and the MDT.
• Ability to coordinate shifts and support junior staff development.

Responsibilities

• Lead a shift in the Children's Assessment Unit and monitor patient flow.
• Coordinate allocated paediatric care across multidisciplinary teams.
• Support and develop junior staff and students on the ward.
• Deliver high-quality evidence-based care to children and their families.
• Be flexible to cover the ward as Nurse In Charge when required.
