Job summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust in Salford, Greater Manchester, is seeking an experienced Children's Speech and Language Therapist to join the Complex Needs team. The role involves delivering assessments and interventions across clinics, homes and specialist settings, and providing training to parents and colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary service.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
• Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses.
• Member of RCSLT.
• HCPC Registration Licence to Practise.
• Desirable: Talking Mats Training (Foundation Stage).
• Disclosure and Barring Service check required.
• UK registration with current qualification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver universal, targeted and specialist clinical work as part of a multidisciplinary team in line with Balanced System principles.
• Work collaboratively with parents/carers and setting staff to support children with speech, language and communication needs, including eating, drinking and swallowing needs.
• Assess and diagnose speech, language and communication need and plan and implement Specialist Speech and Language Therapy interventions and programmes of care and discharge appropriately, using evidence based practice.
• Produce reports outlining the findings of the assessments and child/young person's needs and next steps (including for statutory purposes, e.g. EHCP assessments).
• Demonstrate clinical effectiveness through the use of evidence based practice and outcome measures.
• Support the development and delivery of training packages to parents/carers and setting staff.
• Provide peer support to and receive peer support from other Speech and Language colleagues.
