Job summary

Whittington Health NHS Trust is seeking a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Band 7) to lead autonomous paediatric caseload provision in Islington. The role focuses on complex autism and related communication needs within the Inclusion Bases, collaborating with MDTs to deliver high-quality assessments and interventions.

The post holder will provide supervision, contribute to training, and develop clinical protocols while working within the NHS structure and safeguarding guidelines.

Qualifications

• HCPC licence to practise, and registered member of RCSLT
• Post graduate study relevant to paediatric dysphagia
• Advanced ASD courses, Makaton Regional Tutor, AAC
• BSc. Speech Path or Equivalent (including Dip. CST)
• Successful completion of highly specialist post graduate study in paediatric dysphagia

Responsibilities

• 1.To demonstrate highly specialist clinical expertise in the assessment, treatment and management of language and communication problems in children and young people.
• 2.To demonstrate highly specialist knowledge in these clinical areas underpinned by current evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
• 3.To provide advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication difficulties.
• 4.To work with clients, carers and families to agree plan of management.
• 5.To manage and prioritise a complex and specialist caseload independently, advising line manager on issues of service delivery.

Education

BSc. Speech Path or Equivalent (including Dip. CST)
