Overview

JustOT are recruiting for an Occupational Therapist at band 7 level specialising in Paediatric for a locum vacancy in London.

The pay for this position is £25-£30 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.

Successful candidates must hold a degree in occupational therapy and be HCPC registered.

Role of Department
  • To assess, treat and manage the needs of children requiring Occupational Therapy.
  • Services are provided at the place most appropriate for the client including hospital and clinic sites, special and mainstream schools, early years centres and client's homes.
  • Training and advice to carers and relevant professionals to share skills is a core part of Therapy provision.

The Children's Occupational Therapy Team consists of 6 OTs and provides a high quality Occupational Therapy service to a specialist caseload of children and their families. The post holder is often required to work as a lone practitioner across multiple sites.

Responsibilities
  • To work as the lead OT for children with neurological conditions, providing specialist assessment, treatment advice and supervision to the OT team, regarding children with neurological conditions
  • To lead the running and continue develop of the Upper Limb Intervention clinic. Including conducting standardized Upper Limb assessments, fabricating splints, intervention and intervention recommendations following current evidence, assessing for need for upper limb Botulinum Toxin and surgery
  • To work in MDT groups for babies and young children with emerging complex neurological needs
  • To work in an Multiphprofessional assessment and diagnostic clinic for babies and young children with complex and emerging neurological needs
  • To autonomously manage a complex caseload of community children with a range of neurological and developmental disabilities.
  • To support and advise health colleagues, teaching professionals, parents and carers within the community in the management of complex cases and to provide a more structured framework of advice for Education staff working with children with OT needs through a programme of formal training modules.
  • To identify clinical research, audit and data collection priorities within areas of expertise as well as assisting the Team Leader in implementing clinical service developments and protocols.
  • To provide clinical support and supervision for junior staff and OT students.
