  • Maintain accurate records of packaging inspections and non-conformance reports.
  • Conduct quality checks on packaging materials at intake for defects, print clarity and correct artwork version and specification.
  • Update packaging Quality attribute records for new, in use and delisted packaging and labels.
  • Support operations in the event of non-conforming packaging and aid in the resolution of this through the supplier non-conformance process.
  • Work closely with the Technical Accounts Manager to confirm correct cutter guides are used for new and existing artworks for each customer/product.
  • Support the NPD and procurement team with product trials and pre-productions, including the co-ordination of ordering packaging for trials.
  • Work with Technical and NPD to support the delivery of new packaging innovations.
  • Review packaging to ensure correct artwork and specification requirements on arrival.

  • Collate and report on packaging recovery notes.
  • Lead on the packaging compliance scheme and environment agency audits, implementing corrective actions where required.

About Us

At Geary’s, we’re on a crusade to make proper bread more accessible to more people. We’re passionate about re-imagining the way Great Britain thinks about their everyday loaf. This passion is at the heart of everything we do, and have done, since 1906.

We are ‘born and bread’ in Leicestershire and proud of our long-standing heritage. Today, we operate from two, soon to be three, sites on a 24/7 operation. We’re made up of over 600 people: a friendly, diverse and outgoing team, passionate about making a difference to the bakery industry.

We provide full training and support, and the chance to learn new skills from some of the best master bakers in the country. We invest in those who are committed to our craft and offer great opportunities to develop into supervisory and management roles. Our brilliant benefits include free delicious bread and a Cycle to Work scheme.

Plus, if you refer a friend to join our team, you could earn up to £500!

  • Experience of working within a packaging technical function.
  • Experience with automated packaging machines including baggers and flow wrappers.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience of developing cutter guides.

  • Experience of working with packaging suppliers to drive improvement.
  • Able to lead on an audit.
  • Ability to manage your time effectively.
  • Organised and self-disciplined.
  • Enjoy working within a very fast-paced and changeable environment.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication.
