Job Role:

My client is a world-leading construction and civil engineering company.

They are currently recruiting for a Package Manager / Section Manager to join the joint venture responsible for constructing and delivering a major HS2 station in Northwest London. The circa £1bn project includes the delivery of six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Section Manager will ensure all works, including those of suppliers and subcontractors, are coordinated to meet safety, quality, and environmental objectives. You will work on complex packages involving bridges, structures, roadworks, drainage, utility diversions, junction improvements, and more.

Duties:

  • Allocate tasks to Engineers and supervise task completion.
  • Ensure Inspection and Test Plans, and Quality Check Sheets are completed promptly to meet specifications.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing events and keep Site Engineers/Operatives informed.
  • Understand construction methodology and develop/approve relevant procedures.
  • Assess plant and resource requirements with the Section Foreman.
  • Produce/approve method statements and risk assessments, ensuring adherence.
  • Supervise temporary works erection, use, maintenance, and dismantling.
  • Conduct checks during construction, liaising with the TWC and Site Team.
  • Prepare and issue Temporary Works Briefs to relevant departments.
  • Ensure Site Engineers complete setting out per design.
  • Mark up Design Drawings to reflect completed works.
  • Coordinate with Senior Engineers to manage clashes and ensure smooth workflow.

Person Specification:

  • Degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • Experience managing complex civil engineering or construction packages.
  • Knowledge of roadworks, structures, and utilities is highly advantageous.
