Job description

We are seeking a Divisional Director of Operations to join our leadership team, playing a key role in driving operational success across our organization.

In collaboration with the Divisional Medical Director and Divisional Director of Nursing, you will lead the operational strategy, performance, and daily management of the Lewisham Medicine and Community Division, which includes urgent and emergency care, specialist medicine, and community services. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful operational leadership within the NHS, experience in divisional management, and the ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary teams and deliver results. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to engage stakeholders and implement strategic plans.

The division has shown improvements across all performance metrics in the past two years. We are looking for a candidate to continue this trajectory, leading our teams into an exciting future for local hospital and community services, with a focus on excellence across the organization and system.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Strategy: Chair the triumvirate team to oversee performance and resource utilization, ensuring high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.
  2. Clinical Vision: Develop and inspire the clinical vision and strategy for the division, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and effective delivery of plans.
  3. Team Management: Manage directorate teams, establishing clear structures and processes to support service targets, with a focus on performance management and support.
  4. Business and Financial Management: Provide leadership on service planning, development, and financial management, ensuring adherence to budgets and targets.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external partners to foster an inclusive culture, develop leadership potential, and improve staff engagement and diversity initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Divisional Leadership: Contribute to the trust’s strategic direction, providing visible leadership and fostering teamwork and innovation.
  2. Operational Management: Ensure effective operational structures, manage performance, and oversee incident responses and capacity planning.
  3. Service Development: Support service improvement strategies, promote innovation, and implement new models of care.
  4. System Working and External Relations: Build strong relationships with external partners, represent the trust at system meetings, and enhance stakeholder engagement.

This role requires a senior leader with strategic vision, operational expertise, and a commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery. The position is based in London, England, with a contract employment type, within the management and manufacturing job function sector.
