SEND Coordinator

Part-time (1/2 days per week) | Wandsworth | Community School | Leadership pay scale | September start

A small community primary school in Wandsworth is looking for a qualified SEN Coordinator to join their team on a part-time basis from September 2025.

The Role

As the SENCO, you will be part of the leadership team for this small school. You will be responsible for coordinating all support for children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) and developing the school’s SEND Policy to ensure all children receive a consistent, high-quality response to their needs. The SENDCO plays a pivotal role in ensuring all pupils make progress and are supported and cared for appropriately across the school. This position is non-class based, although involvement in teaching intervention groups is expected.

Your Responsibilities
  • Overseeing LAC, PP, SEND, Medical records
  • Updating the school’s SEND register and maintaining comprehensive records of pupils' progress and needs
  • Engaging parents fully in supporting their child's learning, including planning, regular updates, and reviews
  • Liaising with outside agencies such as Speech and Language Therapy, Educational Psychologists, Art Therapists, etc.
  • Providing specialist support and training for teachers and support staff
  • Collaborating with class teachers to write Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) with specific targets for pupils
  • Preparing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Organising staff training to enhance understanding and confidence in meeting pupils’ needs
  • Planning and leading SEND intervention groups
The School

This community-focused primary school, opened in 2020, offers a bilingual education combining the National Curriculum with Portuguese language instruction by specialists. The school caters to pupils from Reception to Year 4 and offers Forest School, swimming, and music lessons with specialist teachers, fostering a rich learning environment. The school is easily accessible by public transport.

Minimum Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and SENCO qualification
  • Ability to coach and mentor colleagues effectively and work as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organisation, and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Availability to work 2 days a week from September 2025
