Job summary

Mary Ann Evans Hospice invites applications for a Senior Health Care Assistant to join the Overnight Nursing Service on a 12‑month fixed term contract. You will provide compassionate, person‑centred care in patients' homes as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting families with respite care and coordinating with NHS and social services to honour patients' wishes to remain at home.

The role requires a Level 3 HCA qualification, excellent communication, empathy, and flexibility to work

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care is required.
• Experience in palliative and end-of-life care is preferred.
• UK driving license and access to a vehicle is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality palliative and end‑of‑life care in patients' homes.
• Support personal care, emotional wellbeing and practical needs.
• Deliver periods of respite care for families and carers.
• Collaborate with NHS, social services, care homes and voluntary bodies.
• Contribute to the Wellbeing Programme and reablement goals.
• Support the Rapid Response team when needed.
