Job summary

Westward Care Ltd in Ledston, England is seeking a compassionate Night Care Assistant to join our 36-hour per week night shift team. You will provide high-quality personal care, support residents during night hours, respond to calls, and help maintain comfort, safety and dignity throughout the night.

The role requires an Enhanced DBS, the ability to work 12-hour nights (8pm–8am), and previous care experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (8pm–8am)
• Must be able to obtain or hold an Enhanced DBS disclosure
• Relevant qualification in Health and Social Care
• Previous experience working in a care home or residential setting
• NVQ / QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (preferred)
• Knowledge of safeguarding, moving and handling, and dementia care practices (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality personal care to residents during night hours including bedtime routines, night checks, and morning preparation.
• Respond promptly to resident call bells and signs of distress.
• Assist residents with mobility, positioning and pressure area care per care plans.
• Carry out regular checks while respecting sleep and privacy; report concerns to the on‑call nurse.
• Update care logs, fluid balance charts and night monitoring reports; participate in handovers.
• Ensure security and safety of the home during the night shift and maintain a quiet, clean environment.
