Job description

About the Role

As a Bank Residential Support Worker at Bedspace, you’ll provide high-quality support to young people as they work towards independence. You’ll play a key role in helping them develop the practical skills, confidence, and emotional resilience needed to live independently and thrive within their local community. Each day will bring new challenges and opportunities, but the overall goal remains the same — to empower young people to build positive, independent futures.

You’ll use our ASDAN modules to guide young people through key areas, including finance and budgeting, tenancy support, personal development, health and wellbeing, healthy eating, relationships, and culture. Your role will involve helping them develop essential life skills, encouraging independence, and supporting them through their day-to-day challenges.

This is a bank (casual) role, offering flexible shifts to cover services across the Cheshire East & West pathway, across Chester and Congleton. Shifts are offered on an as-needed basis to support service demand, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

Please note that holiday pay is included in the hourly rate.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance are essential, due to the regional nature of the role.

About You

You are empathetic, patient, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young people. You have experience working with individuals who have complex emotional and social needs, including those affected by trauma, mental health issues, and challenging behaviours.

Your communication skills are strong, and you are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility and a sense of humour are key, as you will need to adapt to different services, young people, and situations while maintaining a positive and proactive approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to young people, helping them develop essential life skills
  • Assist with educational, health, and welfare needs, ensuring access to necessary resources
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of service users’ progress
  • Help young people manage daily tasks and appointments
  • Contribute to a safe and supportive environment through regular communication and monitoring
Requirements
  • Experience working with young people who have complex needs in a social care setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
  • Computer literate, with the ability to manage administrative tasks.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

If you are offered the role, references will be requested for all positions involving work with children or vulnerable adults. You must also provide a full employment history in your CV, with clear explanations for any gaps.

Location: Cheshire

Salary: £13.45 per hour (holiday pay included)
