Job summary

Taff Housing Association is seeking a caring, motivated Outreach Support Officer to work with residents aged 16 to 21 as they move into independent accommodation and beyond.

You will provide person-centred support in homes, run workshops, build resilience, and promote independence within a psychologically informed environment; driving and IT skills preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored outreach support to residents moving on to independent accommodation for up to 12 months.
• Prepare residents for move-on from hostels and support thereafter for up to 12 months.
• Ensure safety and wellbeing in a psychologically informed environment.
• Plan and run tenant participation activities to promote independence and wellbeing.

Job description

We are looking for a caring, compassionate and motivated person to join our team and walk alongside young people as they take positive steps towards independence. This post is for an Outreach Support Officer, working with residents who have moved into our shared house or into their own tenancies. The purpose of the role is to support young people aged 16 to 21 as they move into independent accommodation, and to continue supporting them after move‑on so they can sustain their tenancy and build a positive future. You will provide person‑centred support in their own homes, using creative and engaging approaches to help young people recognise their strengths, achieve their goals and aspirations, and develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive.

By building positive relationships and taking a 'work with' approach, you'll help residents achieve their goals and take those next steps towards independence. The role can be challenging. At Taff, we work in a psychologically informed way and aim to build resilience in trauma‑affected people, which can bring up challenging emotions for those we support and for our staff. What you’ll do…

To provide tailored outreach support to residents moving on from Ty Seren hostel into their own accommodation, for up to 12 months. To provide tailored support to residents of Ty Haul hostel preparing for move‑on, and to support them thereafter for up to 12 months. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents within a psychologically informed environment. To plan and implement a programme of tenant participation, promoting independence and wellbeing.
