Job summary

Taff Housing Association in Cardiff is seeking an Outreach Support Officer to help young people aged 16 to 21 move into independent accommodation and sustain tenancy. The role is on-site and part-time, with a fixed annual salary and a supportive, trauma-informed environment.

You will provide person-centred support in residents' homes, run workshops, manage safeguarding and budgeting, and help residents build confidence to thrive and progress in their housing journeys.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored outreach support to residents moving on from Ty Seren hostel into their own accommodation, for up to 12 months.
• Support residents of Ty Haul hostel preparing for move-on, and thereafter for up to 12 months.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents in a psychologically informed environment.
• Plan and implement a programme of tenant participation, promoting independence and wellbeing.

We are looking for a caring, compassionate and motivated person to join our team and walk alongside young people as they take positive steps towards independence. This post is for an Outreach Support Officer, working with residents who have moved into our shared house or into their own tenancies. The purpose of the role is to support young people aged 16 to 21 as they move into independent accommodation, and to continue supporting them after move‑on so they can sustain their tenancy and build a positive future. You will provide person‑centred support in their own homes, using creative and engaging approaches to help young people recognise their strengths, achieve their goals and aspirations, and develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive.

By building positive relationships and taking a “work with” approach, you'll help residents achieve their goals and take those next steps towards independence. The role can be challenging. At Taff, we work in a psychologically informed way and aim to build resilience in trauma‑affected people, which can bring up challenging emotions for those we support and for our staff.
