Job summary

West Berkshire Council is recruiting a Civil Enforcement Officer to join our Parking Services team. You will patrol streets and council car parks across West Berkshire, issue Penalty Charge Notices, and act as a professional ambassador for the council.

We welcome applicants from customer service, security, policing or public-facing roles and will provide full training. The role requires good communication, attention to detail, and a willingness to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather.
• Excellent communication and customer service.
• Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
• Good attention to detail and record-keeping.
• UK driving licence.
• Comfortable using computers and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Patrol streets and council car parks across West Berkshire.
• Issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) where parking contraventions occur.
• Act as a visible and professional ambassador for West Berkshire Council.
• Provide advice and assistance to residents, businesses and visitors.
• Deal with challenging situations calmly, professionally and respectfully.
• Record evidence, prepare accurate notes and maintain detailed records using handheld technology.
• Monitor council car parks and undertake routine checks of parking equipment and facilities.
• Support the wider Parking Services team in delivering an excellent service to the public.
• Attend adjudication hearings or court proceedings where required.
