Job summary

Circle Health Group is recruiting a Theatre Practitioner for the Orthopaedics department at The Manor Hospital in Bedford. This full‑time role covers 37.5 hours per week with a salary up to £35,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

You will join the Orthopaedic Scrub Team and support surgical and anaesthetic procedures, ensuring sterility, patient safety and prompt post‑operative care in a busy theatre environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) registration required.
• Orthopaedic theatre experience or training preferred.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility and equipment safety.
• Support the anaesthetist with equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management and positioning.
• Provide post‑operative care, monitor vital signs, manage pain and nausea, and aid discharge readiness.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to achieve safe, efficient lists.
• Contribute to a positive, respectful theatre environment.
