Job summary

18 Week Support is seeking an experienced Oral & Maxillofacial nurse to assist weekend insourcing clinics in Southampton, delivering quality patient care across various pathways including cancer. Successful applicants will join experienced teams focused on patient care throughout the perioperative pathway.

Requirements include current NHS trust experience, RN or Dental Nurse registration, and recent hands-on involvement in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Qualifications

• Current work within an NHS trust in an Oral & Maxillofacial service.
• At least 6 months of hands-on experience within the past 12 months.
• Active registration as a Registered Nurse (NMC) or Dental Nurse (GDC).

Responsibilities

• Preparing patients for clinics and providing support.
• Delivering sensitive pre- and post-operative education.
• Clinic and treatment room preparation.

• Cancer pathways
• Anaesthetic procedures, biopsies, and minor plastic or facial surgeries

Requirements

• Be currently working within an NHS trust in an Oral & Maxillofacial service – In outpatients
• Have recent, hands‑on experience supporting patients within:
• Biopsies
• Have been actively undertaking this work for at least 6 months within the past 12 months

You will also have

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification
• Active registration as a Registered Nurse (NMC) or Dental Nurse (GDC)
• Recent post‑registration experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery or on surgical wards

Responsibilities include supporting with

• Preparing patients for clinics, providing support to anxious patients
• Delivering sensitive pre‑ and post‑operative education (such as oral hygiene and cancer care)
• Clinic and treatment room preparation
• Assisting clinicians to ensure safe and efficient patient care delivery
