Job summary

ASTREYA ASIA PACIFIC PTE. LIMITED is seeking an experienced network operations engineer in the UK to troubleshoot OTN issues and maintain fiber infrastructure. You will work with cross-functional teams to resolve incidents across Hut, PoPs, and datacenters.

The role requires knowledge of ROADM, DWDM, dark fiber testing, and vendor coordination, with hands-on experience on Ciena 6500 and Infinera GX40. Weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2–5 years related experience.
• Builds productive internal and external relationships.
• Understanding of fiber-optic technology and patch panels.
• Strong communication with service providers worldwide.
• Working knowledge of ROADM, coherent transponders, and long-haul networks.
• Knowledge of DWDM devices and CLI.
• Knowledge of dark fiber testing and light level testing.
• Knowledge of networks and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance service delivery and troubleshoot OTN issues.
• Troubleshoot optical devices (Ciena 6500, Infinera GX40) in Hut, PoPs, and datacenters.
• Handle dark fiber maintenance and related queries raised by OSP.
• Support daily vendor troubleshooting of software and hardware.
• Assist incidents: hardware failure, power outages, fiber events.
• Coordinate with smart hands and vendors to restore service.
• Work with ISPs/vendors on fixes, including RMAs and fiber repair.
• Perform OTDR testing analysis and readouts.
• Monitor long-haul and metro networks; isolate faults and escalate when needed.
• Document processes; create monitors, alerts, dashboards, metrics.
• Follow RMA procedures and coordinate with vendors.
• Collaborate across regions; weekend work may be required.
