Job summary

BUUK Infrastructure is seeking a Fibre Field Technician to support maintenance and incident response for OFNL network across Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth and surrounding areas. The role is field-based with full training provided and includes on-call duties and adherence to safety procedures.

You will work with NOC and field teams, perform routine maintenance on FTTP equipment, and contribute to service delivery while maintaining professional conduct and strong customer service focus.

Qualifications

• Practical experience using hand held tools.
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• City & Guilds 3667-02.
• NRSWA certificate.
• Safety underground certificate SA002.
• Experience in network maintenance tasks, GPON/FTTH technology or telecom environment.
• Use of an OTDR tester and ability to analyse results.
• Able to adapt to changing work practices and environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance of telecoms equipment deployed in our FTTP network.
• Coordinate with NOC and Field engineering teams.
• Participate in a call-out rota as first responders including out-of-hours work.
• Contribute to successful delivery of OFNL services.
• Maintain OFNL network equipment day-to-day.
• Conduct site audits against network design standards and specifications.
• Ensure safety with PPE and company procedures.
• Provide remote hands for NOC engineering teams.
• Support field engineers during two-person activities.
• Attend training courses and keep up to date with relevant technologies.
