Job summary

Specsavers Chatham is seeking a proactive Lab technician to join our optical lab team. You will work with modern equipment to cut, assemble and tint lenses, ensuring accuracy and quality for customers’ spectacles.

A strong eye for detail and clear communication with colleagues are essential in this busy retail lab. The role requires previous optical lab experience, adaptability, and a passion for helping customers.

As a Lab technician you will use the latest computer-controlled equipment with an eye for detail & accuracy, allowing you to maintain high standards to maximise customer satisfaction.

With your previous knowledge of an Optical Lab, you will be part of a team responsible for preparing customer’s spectacle orders to the highest standard.

Specsavers Chatham is a customer-focused opticians providing professional eye-care and hearing services to the local community. The store offers comprehensive eye examinations, sight tests, contact lens consultations and fittings, as well as dispensing and fitting glasses and sunglasses. Hearing services include hearing tests and support with hearing-care solutions. The team focuses on delivering high-quality clinical care alongside friendly, personalised customer service, helping customers find the right products and solutions for their individual needs.

What we’re looking for?

You will need to have previous experience working in an optical lab, be a great communicator, have an eye for detail, be flexible and adaptable, a passionate people person, organised, and hard-working.

The role:

• Reading lens and frame specifications from prescriptions
• Using blocking and glazing machines to cut lenses to the correct shape and fit
• Assembling lenses into frames
• Tinting of lenses to provide UV protection and a variety of colours
• Ordering frames and lenses
• Quality checking of completed glasses
• Good housekeeping and machine maintenance
