Job summary

Specsavers Hanley is seeking a motivated Trainee Lab Technician to join our optical lab team. You will use the latest computer-controlled equipment with an eye for detail to maintain high standards and maximise customer satisfaction.

We offer comprehensive training and development opportunities, a full-time schedule (37.5 hours) including a weekend day, and a competitive hourly rate of £11.00–£12.85, plus Specsavers Perks and staff discounts.

Responsibilities

• Read prescriptions to determine lens and frame specs.
• Operate blocking and glazing machines to cut lenses.
• Assemble lenses into frames.
• Tint lenses for UV protection and color variety.
• Order frames and lenses.
• Quality check completed glasses.
• Maintain good housekeeping and machine maintenance.

The role:

We'll provide all the training you will need to be able to confidently perform the following tasks:

• Reading lens and frame specifications from prescriptions
• Using blocking and glazing machines to cut lenses to the correct shape and fit
• Assembling lenses into frames
• Tinting of lenses to provide UV protection and a variety of colours
• Ordering frames and lenses
• Quality checking of completed glasses
• Good housekeeping and machine maintenance
