Job summary

Lunaria Recruitment presents an opportunity for an Optical Assistant in Watford, Hertfordshire. The selected candidate will join a welcoming optical practice, supporting patients through pre-tests, dispensing spectacles and assisting the Optometrist to ensure a smooth journey for every patient.

We’re looking for someone with previous optical practice experience, excellent communication, and a patient-focused mindset.

• Previous experience working in an optical practice is essential.
• A confident communicator who enjoys working with people.
• A patient-focused approach and a genuine interest in eye care.
• Someone reliable, organised and happy to work as part of a team.
• A willingness to learn, develop and contribute to the success of the practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm welcome and excellent service to patients.
• Carry out pre-screening and pre-test procedures.
• Support the Optometrist and ensure a smooth patient journey.
• Dispense spectacles and help patients choose frames and lenses.
• Fit, adjust and carry out minor repairs to glasses.
• Assist with contact lens teaching and aftercare where trained.
• Manage appointments and support general administration.
• Work closely with colleagues to keep the practice running smoothly.
