Overview

Dispensing Assistant (Part-Time – 30 Hours per Week)

Location: Bexleyheath or Chislehurst (Mobile split between 2 practices). Job Type: Part-Time | Permanent | On-Site. Hours: 30 hours per week.

An established group of independent optometric practices is seeking a part-time Dispensing Assistant to join their team. Working from either the Bexleyheath or Chislehurst practice, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of a busy, patient-focused environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous optical dispensing experience who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Dispense a wide variety of lenses and frames tailored to individual patient needs
• Provide knowledgeable advice on frame styles, lens types, coatings, and accessories
• Deliver outstanding service to patients, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience
• Assist with inventory control and stock management
• Handle point-of-sale transactions, including cash and card payments
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient working environment
• Collaborate effectively with optometrists, reception staff, and other team members
• Stay informed on the latest product ranges and optical technologies

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in optical dispensing is essential
• Strong product knowledge of lenses, frames, and associated services
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven customer service abilities in a fast-paced setting
• Confident in handling cash and managing stock
• Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Willingness to travel between practices
• MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 12 MONTHS OPTICS EXPERIENCE TO APPLY.
