Job summary

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Band 7 Ophthalmology Unit Manager to provide maternity cover at Worcester Royal Hospital for 12 months. You will lead the ophthalmology team, ensure safe patient care, and drive performance against service standards.

The role requires a registered nurse with substantial ophthalmology leadership experience and a proven track record in staff development and governance.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with significant post registration experience in Ophthalmology.
• Proven leadership track record in a fast-paced clinical setting.
• Band 7 equivalent leadership and management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Ophthalmology unit.
• Maintain high standards of patient safety, quality and clinical governance.
• Overall responsibility for day-to-day management and leadership of the Ophthalmology Department.
• Lead and support a multidisciplinary team, promoting a positive and inclusive working environment.
• Ensure safe and effective staffing and workforce management.
• Monitor activity and performance against agreed service requirements.
