Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) invites applications for a caring, motivated individual to support high‑quality patient care within the Ophthalmology Department. Based at Gartnavel General Hospital, you will work alongside ophthalmic teams and be involved in direct patient contact as well as administrative duties.

This part-time, fixed-term post runs for six months with Saturday shifts (08:45–16:39) and a pro rata salary.

Qualifications

• Standard Grades including English or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience.
• SVQ Level 2 in Healthcare or willingness to work towards this qualification.
• Experience working in a caring environment or customer-focused role.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and follow established procedures.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and work using your own initiative.
• Proficient keyboard and IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office applications and data entry systems.
• Have previous visual field testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a range of ophthalmic investigations including visual field testing.
• Visual acuity measurements.
• Intraocular pressure assessment.
• Gathering and recording clinical information from patients with glaucoma.
• Supporting the smooth running of clinics.
• Undertaking administrative duties as required.
