Job summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Health Care Assistant to join the Ophthalmology Outpatients Department on a 28.5-hour week contract. You will support nursing and clinical staff, perform basic clinical tasks after training, and help keep the clinic rooms prepared and safe for patients attending ophthalmology clinics.

This role involves working in a busy, fast-paced unit with a strong team focus.

Qualifications

• Provide compassionate patient care in ophthalmology outpatient setting.
• Assist with basic clinical tasks after training (e.g., vital signs, BP, glucose).
• Support nursing and clinical staff and maintain patient dignity and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified nursing staff in delivering care to ophthalmology patients.
• Support patients before, during, and after consultations and procedures.
• Undertake basic clinical tasks following training and competency assessment.
• Prepare clinic rooms and equipment to ensure a clean and safe environment.
• Assist with patient flow and clerical duties within the outpatient department.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a busy unit.
• Deliver specialist testing to support doctors in diagnosing ophthalmic conditions.
