Job summary

Ringway London is seeking an Operative to perform general maintenance duties in Tonbridge. You will respond to emergencies, support winter maintenance, and work on routine tasks alongside a Chargehand. Apprentices who have completed training are included in this role.

The position is permanent and full-time, with a typical Monday–Friday schedule and varied hours to suit business needs, located in Kent.

Qualifications

• Banksman on site where required.
• Manual handling of loads as part of daily tasks.
• Awareness of abrasive wheels and safety procedures.
• First aid readiness for on-site incidents.
• Safe digging practices and risk awareness.
• Valid driving licence to support travel or driving duties.
• CSCS card if requested by client requirements.
• Adherence to the company behaviours matrix.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance works and operations as directed.
• Respond to emergencies and call outs during/after hours on rota.
• Assist with winter maintenance activities as second man or driver’s mate.
• Work with a Chargehand and undertake routine and cyclical tasks.
• Include apprentices who have completed training on site.

To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a Chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works. To respond to emergencies and call outs during or out of hours on rotas as required and assist with winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate. Includes apprentices who have fully completed training

Specialist Skills

• To have and be able to apply a wide range of generalist skills
• To understand risk assessments and to assess according to safe systems of work
• To be able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification
• Generally hold 12 months+ experience
• Potential & interest in obtaining LGV licence
• Undertaken training on: General health & safety awareness / Risk assessment awareness / Traffic Management / Use of PDA as required
• Ability to use small plant and equipment
• Ability to operate mini excavator
