The Role of the Operations Supervisor
The Operations Supervisor will take responsibility for overseeing the full site operation during the night shift.
This is a varied, hand on position that will involve working closely with the team on the shop floor, monitoring performance and ensuring the operation runs safely and efficiently.
The Operations Supervsior would be an excellent step up for an experienced Operations Team Leader who is ready to take greater ownership of a shift and progress into a supervisory position.
Responsibilities of the Operations Supervisor
- Oversee the day to day performance of the shift and ensure operational targets are achieved
- Lead, support and motivate a team of up to 20 employees
- Monitor shift performance against agreed KPIs
- Ensure productivity targets are met
- Oversee inbound and outbound operations, including deliveries, drivers and hauliers
- Manage stock counts, stock control, shipping and receiving activities
- Complete shift reports and provide accurate performance updates
- Conduct return to work meetings, performance reviews and employee investigations
- Support disciplinary processes, holiday approvals and general people management matters
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, food safety, hygiene and quality
- Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities to improve performance
- Work closely with the Shift Managers, Site Manager and Production Manager
- Help create a positive, productive and accountable working environment
Requirements of the Operations Supervisor
- Previous experience as an Operations Team Leader, Shift Team Leader, Shift Supervisor or similar
- 3-5 year’s experience within a fast-paced operational environment
- Experience within FMCG
- Food manufacturing experience (desired)
- Previous experience leading and managing operational teams
- Confident addressing performance issues and holding performance meetings
- Experience monitoring productivity, shift performance and KPIs
- Understanding of stock counts, stock control and inbound and outbound operations
- Comfortable working with drivers, hauliers and transport providers
- Knowledge of health and safety, food safety and hygiene standards
- Confident completing reports and using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience using SAP or a similar system (desired)
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications (desired)
- A proactive leadership style with the drive to motivate a team and take on new challenges
- Willingness to work hands on and support the team on the shop floor
