Job summary

Zachary Daniels is recruiting an Operations Manager for its Trafford flagship store in Manchester. You will drive daily operations, ensure the store is ready to trade and lead the team to deliver outstanding customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role emphasises planning, team deployment, visual presentation and commercial performance, with responsibilities across stock, performance monitoring and coaching.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail management position such as Operations Manager or Store Manager.
• Strong operational mindset with ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate daily store routines.
• Commercially aware with ability to analyse sales figures and KPIs to drive performance.
• Proven leadership, coaching and succession planning skills.
• Experience in fashion/retail sectors is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Zachary Daniels is recruiting for an Operations Manager to join a fast-paced, fashion-forward retail business at its Trafford flagship store in Manchester.

This is an exciting opportunity for an operationally driven retail leader who understands what it takes to set a flagship store up for success every day. From planning the day ahead and preparing the store for trade to deploying teams, managing priorities and responding to live trading performance, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operation runs seamlessly.

Combining strong operational leadership with commercial awareness and a keen eye for visual merchandising, you will ensure the store is ready to trade, the team is focused and the customer experience remains exceptional throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities as Operations Manager

• Take ownership of the daily operational rhythm of a busy flagship store, ensuring the business is fully prepared for trade from opening through to close.
• Plan and coordinate daily priorities, leading morning briefings, setting clear expectations and ensuring the team understands its objectives.
• Drive operational efficiency through effective team deployment, rota planning, task management and resource allocation in line with trading patterns.
• Monitor live sales performance, KPIs and budgets, adapting priorities throughout the day to maximise commercial opportunities.
• Oversee stock management, delivery processing, replenishment and back-of-house organisation to ensure excellent availability and efficient processes.
• Maintain exceptional store standards, ensuring the shop floor is commercially presented, fully replenished and visually aligned with brand expectations.
• Lead, motivate and develop the team, creating a culture of accountability, pace and high performance.
• Deliver outstanding customer service by ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time.
• Take ownership of operational challenges, resolving issues quickly and confidently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Support people development through regular coaching, performance management and succession planning.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience in a retail management position, such as Operations Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Floor Manager, Store Manager or Department Manager.
• A strong operational mindset, with the ability to organise, prioritise and coordinate the many moving parts of a busy retail store.
• Experience preparing a store for trade and setting clear daily routines, standards and expectations.
• Commercially aware, confident using sales figures and KPIs to drive decisions and improve performance.
• A natural leader who can motivate teams, delegate effectively and maintain momentum during peak trading.
• Strong visual merchandising awareness and an understanding of how presentation, availability and layout influence sales.
• Experience within fashion, footwear, accessories, clothing or big-box retail would be advantageous.
• Experience managing a store or department with turnover exceeding £500k would be beneficial.
• This role would suit a hands-on retail operator who enjoys being at the heart of the action, setting the pace for the day and ensuring every part of the store works together to deliver a successful trading result.
