Red Sky are recruiting on behalf of our client for a strategic and experienced Operations Manager / General Manager to lead their busy workshop operations based at Gatwick Airport.

This is a key leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong background in automotive, engineering, or logistics operations. You ll be responsible for driving performance, compliance, and service excellence, directly supporting the smooth operation of airport ground services.

Operations Manager/ General Manager Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and allocate engineering/operational resources effectively.
• Ensure timely, cost-effective workshop repairs with the Workshop Manager.
• Drive continuous improvement, reduce inefficiencies, and uphold compliance.
• Manage budgets, reporting, and performance metrics.
• Oversee vehicle and equipment standards, audits, and certifications.
• Maintain strong client relationships and excellent service delivery.
• Support recruitment, team engagement, and HR processes.
• Ensure full compliance with airport, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Operations Manager/General Manager Candidate Requirements

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Workshop Operations Manager or in a similar role in the automotive sector or logistics sectors.
• Strong background in workshop or engineering operations management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, optimize resources, and deliver results under pressure.
• Sound understanding of health & safety, airport operations, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of generating operational reports and performance analysis.

Operations Manager/General Manager Desirable:

• Higher education qualification in business, engineering, or operations management (or equivalent management training/experience).
• Experience in multi-site or remote site operational leadership.
• Understanding of the equipment leasing and lifecycle management process.
• Exposure to GSE procurement and technical specifications.
