Job summary

Pure Staff Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the operational delivery of mechanical projects across the UK. This senior leadership role reports to the Managing Director and will oversee Project Managers and site delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within commercial targets.

The candidate will take ownership from mobilisation through to completion and handover, with responsibility for labour allocation, performance

Qualifications

  • Significant experience within mechanical services, M&E, construction, engineering or a related environment.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects and operational teams.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • A thorough understanding of project delivery, resource planning and operational performance.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and site-based procedures.
  • Experience managing clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • The ability to identify project risks and implement effective recovery strategies.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of contractual obligations.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on operational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational delivery of multiple mechanical projects from mobilisation through to completion.
  • Manage and support Project Managers, Site Supervisors and site delivery teams.
  • Develop operational strategies to improve productivity, efficiency and project performance.
  • Take overall responsibility for the allocation of labour, supervision and operational management across projects.
  • Ensure high standards of Health & Safety, including RAMS, permits, inspections and corrective actions.
  • Monitor project performance and identify projects that are underperforming or at risk, implementing effective recovery plans.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, resource requirements and operational readiness.
  • Conduct internal project audits to ensure company processes and standards are being followed.
  • Manage operational aspects of relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Work closely with Commercial and Pre-Construction teams to manage contractual and commercial risks.
  • Oversee project completion, commissioning, handover documentation, client sign-off and defects.
  • Drive continuous improvement and develop operational processes as the business grows.
  • Develop and mentor the operational team, including performance management, training and succession planning.
  • Ensure apprentice development and workplace training requirements are effectively managed.
  • Contribute to wider business strategy and growth as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Are you an experienced Operations Manager or Senior Project/Contracts Manager with a strong background in mechanical services, construction or engineering?

We are working exclusively with an established and growing mechanical services business to recruit an Operations Manager to take responsibility for the successful operational delivery of its projects across the UK.

This is a senior leadership position, reporting directly to the Managing Director and playing a key role within the Senior Leadership Team. You will lead the operational function, manage Project Managers and site delivery teams, oversee resource allocation and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and in line with commercial targets.

The Role
