Operations/Production Manager

Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sheet metal manufacturing operations, including production planning, process optimisation, quality assurance, equipment maintenance, and team leadership. This role ensures that production meets performance, quality, and safety standards while supporting the company’s goals for efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day sheet metal fabrication operations, ensuring alignment with production schedules and quality benchmarks.
• Lead and support production teams, including supervisors, fabricators, welders, and machine operators.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for sheet metal processing, forming, and assembly.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and production metrics to identify opportunities for improvement in throughput, yield, and cost-efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and health and safety regulations.
• Oversee inventory management of raw materials and components to minimize waste and avoid shortages.
• Champion lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen).
• Maintain and optimize equipment and machinery used in sheet metal fabrication, including press brakes, laser cutters, and CNC machines.
• Prepare and present operational reports to senior leadership, highlighting performance, challenges, and improvement strategies.
• Support the transition from prototype to full-scale production for new product introductions.
• Perform other duties as required, appropriate to skills and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality management systems.
• Certification in Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
• Background in high-precision, fast-paced manufacturing environments.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in sheet metal manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• In-depth knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and related technologies.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, production planning, and lean manufacturing tools.
• Proven track record of driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
