Job summary

HVAC Recruitment Limited in Chester is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee Hard FM maintenance across a portfolio of commercial properties in Chester and surrounding areas.

You will lead engineering teams and contractors, ensure statutory compliance and drive performance against SLAs, KPIs and PPM schedules, with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in Hard FM operations or technical engineering management.
• Strong knowledge of PPMs, reactive maintenance and statutory compliance.
• Experience managing engineering teams and contractors.

Operations Manager - Hard FM

Location: Chester, Cheshire

Salary: £38,000-£42,000

Hours: Monday-Friday

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

We are recruiting for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee Hard FM maintenance across a portfolio of commercial properties in Chester and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically experienced manager with a mechanical or electrical engineering background to join an established facilities management provider.

Duties

• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance across multiple sites.
• Manage engineering teams, contractors and subcontractors.
• Ensure statutory compliance across mechanical and electrical building services.
• Monitor PPM schedules, reactive works, SLAs and KPIs.
• Manage Legionella, asbestos and general health and safety compliance.
• Oversee risk assessments, method statements and safe working procedures.
• Use CAFM systems to monitor maintenance performance.
• Coordinate minor works, repairs and improvement projects.
• Conduct site inspections and maintain strong client relationships.
• Ensure maintenance is delivered safely, efficiently and to contractual standards.

Requirements

• HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Previous experience in Hard FM operations or technical engineering management.
• Strong understanding of commercial mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience managing engineering teams and specialist contractors.
• Knowledge of PPMs, reactive maintenance and statutory compliance.
• Familiarity with CAFM systems, RAMS, Legionella and asbestos management.
• Strong organisational and client-facing skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to satisfy relevant background and pre-employment checks.
