A growing management consultancy is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations in Aberdeen. This pivotal role involves ensuring seamless operations across various functions, managing a small team, and coordinating logistics while adhering to health and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, experience with process optimization, and the ability to lead and motivate a team successfully. Due to continued expansion, our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of their Aberdeen sites. This is a key leadership role, ensuring that all operational activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget, while supporting business growth and continuous improvement.
The Operations Manager will act as a central point of communication between site managers, employees, contractors, and external vendors, ensuring seamless operations across multiple functions. The role requires strong leadership, operational insight, and a commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
Maintain constant and effective communication with managers, staff, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth and efficient company operations.
Ensure full compliance with all Group Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and legal requirements, promoting a strong safety-first culture across all sites.
Review, develop, and improve existing operational processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall company performance.
Ensure all operational activities are delivered on schedule and within agreed budgets, identifying and addressing risks or delays proactively.
Monitor staffing levels and operational needs, planning workforce requirements and overseeing recruitment and onboarding of new employees as required.
Provide strong leadership to a small operational team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, setting clear expectations and driving high performance.
Motivate, coach, and support team members, ensuring appropriate training, development, and performance management.
Work closely with the HSE and Legal departments to ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and contractual obligations.
Oversee daily operational activities across the Aberdeen sites, ensuring effective coordination of logistics, plant operations, and resources.
Monitor operational performance using key metrics and KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions where required.
Manage relationships with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality, cost control, and continuity of service.
Contribute to strategic planning and operational decision-making to support business growth and long-term objectives.
Proven experience in an Operations Manager or similar senior operational role.
Strong understanding of business productivity, process optimisation, and performance management.
Experience in Waste Management and/or Metal Recycling would be a significant advantage.
Knowledge of road transport logistics, including fleet coordination and scheduling.
Plant maintenance knowledge, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
