£1000 signing bonus! (paid to direct applicants only after 6 months continuous service)

37.5 hours paid per week (1/2 unpaid lunch per day)

What You Will Do

As the Operations Controller, your role is to proactively manage the GVS process from “planning, through On Arrival” to “Invoice / Claim” closure. Ensure that CSR’s and Technician Supervisors are working in line with the standard OTI process. Ensuring that service and repair work is completed to time and quality standards and all invoice / claim documents are complete and accurate. Managing customer expectations, job profitability, and workshop productivity targets will be a daily focus to ensure that workshop profitability is optimized.

Main Tasks
  • Adhere to Volvo Service process steps at all times.
  • Conduct regular process reviews with your Manager to identify operational issues and ensure follow-up actions are taken.
  • Manage service department performance to meet KPI targets.
  • Plan workshop/support resources to fulfill OTI process requirements per shift.
  • Support CSR/Workshop Supervisor with job specification, codification, and quoting tasks.
  • Ensure invoice/claim closure tasks are accurate and timely.
  • Assist in specification/codification of complex jobs and ensure customer agreement before starting work.
  • Manage handover of complex or contentious jobs to ensure customer buy-in.
  • Hold daily production meetings to plan workload and resources, review issues, and identify solutions.
  • Anticipate production problems and support workload management.
  • Monitor staff performance and identify areas for development (using PBP process).
  • Conduct competence assessments and address gaps with training.
  • Manage and process productive wage submissions monthly.
  • Report and control lost & non-available hours in line with KPI.
  • Assist in the production of the annual business plan.
  • Work according to Volvo Group UK standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental care.
  • Manage scheduled meetings with customers.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably requested by your manager.

  • City and Guilds, NVQ 3, or equivalent in Motor Vehicle Technology.
  • Experience in the motor vehicle industry, preferably technical in a commercial workshop.
  • Full knowledge of VOSA requirements and MOT testers manual.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of workshop KPIs.
