Operational Support Manager, Breast Surgery & Ophthalmology

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Surgery to provide operational and senior administrative support to services within a clinical group. The role will support the operational delivery of a high-quality, efficient, and patient-centred service in line with national and local Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

The post holder will provide operational support to the service leadership team to ensure the smooth running of the service. This includes managing administration teams and functions, overseeing waiting list management, and scheduling patients to meet KPIs and NHS standards within available resources, ensuring effective patient care in a timely manner.

The role involves line management, handling complex or sensitive information across various teams, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enable delivery of patient care.

Interviews are scheduled for Friday, 16th May 2025.

  1. Line management of service administrative and clerical teams, ensuring Mandatory Training, Appraisals, and Sickness Management are up to date and compliant with Trust policies.
  2. Effective management of inpatient and outpatient waiting lists, liaising with Clinical Coordinators, Consultants, Health Records staff, Medical Secretaries, Operational Managers, Out-Patients, Private Patient services, and Ward Managers.
  3. Analyzing and interpreting waiting list data to support planning, performance, and resource management.
  4. Reviewing monthly performance metrics and compliance against KPIs, qualitative indicators, and business case benefits, in support of the Group Manager.
  5. Operational oversight of EERS (Eye Emergency Referral Service) in collaboration with Ops & Performance Manager and Group Manager.
