Salary l £45,000- £60,000
Working Hours: Monday- Friday 37.5 hours
As Operations Commercial Manager your duties will include liaising with Project Managers to provide the most cost-efficient project whilst balancing the contractual milestones. You will also be responsible for ensuring that projects have in place an effective contract risk management process to avoid negative contract performance and service credits.
Key responsibilities
The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Ensure all work undertaken has effective financial controls in place that balance costs against project delivery.
- Minimise commercial risks with the client and MJ Quinn through contract management as well as strong Project Manager and subcontractor relationships.
- Provide weekly commercial reports analysing WIP, Order Status Reports and other ad hoc analysis.
- Analyse Actual P&L performance vs Budget and provide feedback and proposals to Operations to improve.
- Analyse cash flow performance and identify areas for improvement
- Manage Commercial staff members to prioritise job closure and profitability
- Support the Commercial Director in bid submissions and contract management.
- Provide data to Commercial Director to support stakeholder and senior management reporting.
- Be a point of escalation for any Commercial query between operations and the client.
- Assist in financial negotiations with customers and suppliers from initial bid and through the life cycle of a project including face-to-face meetings.
- Ensures the financial and commercial elements of contracts with customers and suppliers are effectively managed

To be effective in this role the Commercial Manager will need to:
- Maintain and build up a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, customers, suppliers, and senior management teams.

Person Specification
- Experience working within a Commercial team or Operational team.
- Experience working with and analysing large data sets.
- Have strong planning, organisation, and monitoring abilities.
- Enjoy a challenge, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Experience analysing contracts and providing risk management.
- Knowledge of Power BI would be an advantage.
- Have a strong orientation towards quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Can prioritise work, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage business expectations.
- Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.
- Have a high standard of numeracy.
- Be computer literate.
- Intermediate level of Excel such as Pivot tables and VLOOKUP’s.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Have a strong orientation towards quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Can prioritise work, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage business expectations.
- Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.
