Job summary

SSE plc is seeking an Operational Electrical Engineer for the Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery Electrical Engineering team in the UK. You will support asset integrity, maintenance, fault response and commissioning across high voltage assets up to 275kV, from wind, solar and BESS sites.

You will lead outages, manage budgets, and supervise projects and contractors while collaborating with Operations and Maintenance and project teams across the UK and Ireland.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC level qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Operational SAP competence or ability to attain competence with electrical equipment and systems.
• Experience managing projects and contractors with delivery track record.
• Knowledge in Wind, Solar or Battery technology preferable.
• Full driving license; travel regularly across the UK & Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational safety from system up to 275kV, maintenance, fault response, refurbishment, commissioning and issue response.
• Lead outage planning and delivery, monitor plant health, conduct investigations and recommend maintenance strategies.
• Manage engineering projects and design improvements for Wind, Solar and Battery projects.
• Manage contractors and engineering service providers with scope, planning, safety, environmental, quality and delivery.
• Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance and contribute to budget submissions.
