Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Operational Coordinator to support the Children’s Hospital’s operational delivery and patient pathways. You will line-manage Specialty Administrative Team Leaders, coordinate pathways, and help improve service delivery while meeting national access standards.

Key duties include using RTT data to monitor performance, producing regular reports, and leading a team through change with a proactive, inclusive leadership style.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience, training and knowledge.
• Competent IT skills and keyboard proficiency with MS Office suite.
• Previous NHS administration experience and strong knowledge of eCamis.
• Ability to analyse and interpret performance report information.
• Organisation knowledge of admin procedures and working processes.
• Experience in a supervisory role and ability to work to deadlines.
• Ability to work on own initiative and multitask.
• Proven ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Support operational delivery across services for the Children’s Hospital and ensure pathways meet standards.
• Use RTT and operational data to monitor performance, validate pathways, and produce reports and insights.
• Act as a key coordination point, manage pressures, escalate risks, and communicate with stakeholders.
• Provide leadership via line management, staff development, and transformation projects; deputise for senior managers when required.
• Demonstrate strong organisation, multitasking, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, maintain a collaborative and solution-focused approach.
