Job summary

Edwards Ltd is seeking an Operational Buyer to join our client, a leading developer and manufacturer of vacuum products and exhaust management systems. The role focuses on procuring parts, expediting and managing supplier performance within a high-technology manufacturing environment.

You will manage RFQs, supplier quotations, replenishment profiles and NPI sourcing, while achieving savings and meeting delivery targets.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' experience in procurement or purchasing
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness
• Good interpersonal and team-working skills
• Proven track record of achieving savings and delivery targets
• Experience in complex engineering or manufacturing environments
• Ability to communicate professionally with internal customers and suppliers
• Resourceful, self-motivated approach and ability to work independently
• CIPS Level 4 or equivalent qualification or procurement experience
• Experience supporting NPI sourcing and outsourcing/CI projects
• Good understanding of MRP systems and operational purchasing processes

Responsibilities

• React to MRP system messages: expediting, deferring and cancelling open orders
• Issue RFQs and manage supplier quotations
• Analyse supplier quotations and establish replenishment profiles
• Resolve delivery, invoice, quality and overdue-order issues
• Monitor supplier performance against delivery, cost and quality targets
• Identify cost-saving opportunities via benchmarking and value engineering
• Collaborate with Engineering on obsolete/replacement parts
• Raise temporary permits, concessions and engineering changes as needed
• Support sourcing for NPI, outsourcing and continuous improvement

channels.React to MRP system messages, including expediting, deferring and cancelling open order lines.Issue RFQs, manage drawing releases, analyse supplier quotations and establish new part replenishment profiles.Resolve issues relating to delivery accuracy, quality rejects, invoice queries, overdue orders and production shortages.Monitor and improve supplier performance against delivery, cost and quality objectives.Identify cost-saving opportunities through benchmarking, value engineering and optimisation of replenishment methods.Work closely with Engineering to manage obsolete and replacement parts.Raise temporary permits, concessions and engineering changes where required.Develop effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.Support sourcing activity associated with New Product Introduction, outsourcing and continuous improvement projects.
