Operated Plant Manager

The Role:

We have an opportunity for an experienced Operated Plant Manager to take responsibility for managing a team of operated suction excavator and grab lorry drivers.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved in

  • Overseeing vacuum excavation projects from start to finish
  • Allocating staff, equipment, and resources effectively
  • Streamlining operational procedures and workflows
  • Monitoring progress, resolving issues, and maintaining standards
  • Ensuring all equipment is serviced, safe, and compliant
  • Liaising with clients and site teams to ensure smooth delivery
  • Recruiting, training, and managing operators
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture
  • Conducting audits and addressing any safety concerns
  • Managing budgets, reporting, and contributing to forecasts
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and identifying growth opportunities

We would love to hear from you if

You have hands-on experience operating vacuum excavation equipment and have successfully led teams in the field. Your knowledge of excavation techniques, health and safety legislation, and equipment management is matched by your ability to stay organised and calm under pressure.

You're someone who communicates well, motivates others, and takes pride in delivering safe, high-quality work. A full UK driving licence is essential, and a Class 2 (HGV) licence would be a real advantage. Ideally, you'll hold certifications such as CPCS, NPORS, and a valid CSCS card, along with strong computer and record-keeping skills.
