Position Purpose:

The Plant Manager will oversee all operational activities at the designated site to ensure the effective and safe utilization of plant equipment, compliance with site permit regulations, and meeting customer expectations in a compliant and customer-friendly manner.

This role involves managing day-to-day plant operations in accordance with license obligations and health and safety procedures, including KPI targets, business objectives, and overall management of site personnel.

Working as part of the operations team, the Plant Manager will ensure the safe long-term operation of the plant at high utilization, requiring effective resource and manpower management on a daily and hourly basis.

This position will require providing out-of-hours on-call duties on a rota basis as needed.

Key Job Activities:
  • Provide strong leadership to the operational team at the designated site, fostering continuous improvement and high engagement.
  • Ensure optimal performance of plant and equipment, providing technical support to service and maintenance teams.
  • Adhere to company principles and standards regarding personnel, resources, procedures, and practices.
  • Lead plant operations in compliance with legislation including H&S, maintenance, SOPs, working time directive, and site permits. Manage and develop a team of multi-skilled engineers and technicians.
  • Ensure safe operation of all activities, maintaining compliance with health and safety legislation and safe systems of work, with proper training and adherence to policies and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain overall productivity, cost-effectiveness, and resource management, with budgetary responsibility aligned with P&L expectations. Support financial goals through effective cost control, AR functions, revenue, and profit management.
  • Maintain effective communication and personal contact with staff to support operational effectiveness.
Education:
  • Required Education: High School or equivalent
  • Preferred Education: Associate's or equivalent
  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • COTC certification would be advantageous.
Experience (EMEAA):
  • Experience managing KPIs and P&L.
  • Experience operating an engineering plant, including maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience in a senior role within a complex plant environment, ideally in incineration and combustion.
  • Passion for teamwork and innovative leadership.
  • Inspiring leadership style with a focus on performance improvement and employee engagement.
  • Strong customer relationship skills and commercial awareness.
  • Analytical mindset with reporting and performance tracking skills.
  • Relevant engineering or manufacturing knowledge.
  • Proven management experience in diverse plant operations roles.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear, concise instructions.
  • Significant management and leadership experience, including discipline and team management.
  • Flexibility to work within a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
