Lloyds Bank plc is hiring an OpenShift Operator to join the enterprise OpenShift platform team. You will maintain stability, handle incidents, perform upgrades, and contribute to platform improvements in a regulated environment.

The role involves hands-on operation, collaboration with engineering, security, and infrastructure teams, and delivering secure, scalable hosting for critical services. Hybrid work options include Manchester, Leeds, or Edinburgh offices.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience operating production OpenShift or Kubernetes platforms.
• Solid knowledge of cluster architecture, networking, storage, ingress and operators.
• Experience in incident investigation, changes execution, and working within governed environments.
• Ability to automate and standardise operational tasks using scripting or tooling.
• Experience with observability tools (logging, monitoring, alerting) and operational data analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills with focus on root-cause analysis & reliability.
• Collaborative, effective in Agile delivery environments (Jira).
• Experience in regulated environments with formal risk & control requirements.
• Exposure to SRE or reliability engineering practices.
• Experience supporting hybrid or private cloud OpenShift or Kubernetes environments.
• Experience working with vendors such as Red Hat for technical issue resolution.
• Passion for mentoring and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Operate OpenShift clusters across environments per platform standards and support models.
• Perform upgrades, patching, maintenance with validation, rollback, recovery controls.
• Investigate incidents and implement permanent fixes to prevent recurrence.
• Build and improve automation, scripting, and operational tooling to reduce manual effort.
• Implement and maintain observability (monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards) for proactive operations.
• Manage platform security controls (RBAC, service accounts, certificates, secrets) in line with policies.
• Maintain and improve runbooks and operational documentation.
• Be part of a structured on-call rota providing out-of-hours support to ensure 24/7 service coverage.
