Job summary

Surrey Police is advertising an Out of Court Resolution (OoCR) Case Worker role in a centralised team. You will contact victims to understand their needs and promote welfare, and assess offenders to identify reasons for offending.

You will tailor interventions for OoCR as an alternative to court and coordinate with Restorative Justice where needed. You will liaise with partners, safeguard vulnerable individuals, and manage cases with a flexible diary.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others at all levels, in a team and with partners.
• Ability to interact positively with adults from hard-to-reach vulnerable groups.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
• Excellent organisational skills and an ability to prioritise work to deliver to deadlines.
• Ability to make decisions and problem solve to negotiate solutions.
• Ability to work both in a team and autonomously, taking personal responsibility to achieve goals.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and to champion ethical Out of Court Disposal options.
• Personal resilience to handle sensitive/distressing material.

Responsibilities

• To contact victims and ascertain needs, promoting victim welfare and satisfaction.
• To contact offenders and assess adults to identify reasons for offending.
• To work with offenders with complex needs and identify issues such as drug or mental health needs.
• To tailor local interventions and agreements accordingly, including reparation opportunities.
• To liaise with Restorative Justice Team for conditional cautions following RJ principles.
• To identify safeguarding concerns and make referrals as required.
• To establish and maintain relationships with local partners and colleagues.
