Job summary

Dron & Dickson is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join the Engineering Services (Onshore) team, based in the North of England with regular visits to the Hull office.

You will identify and develop new client opportunities, lead technical engagements, and manage proposals from opportunity to award, collaborating with BD, Engineering and Marketing teams across LV/HV and hazardous area services. A UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrical Engineer with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar technical or business development role.
• Strong technical knowledge across LV/HV systems and electrical engineering standards.
• Commercially aware, with the ability to identify value and cost‑saving opportunities for clients.
• Confident interpreting scopes, drawings, specifications and calculations.
• Proven ability to develop technical solutions and convert them into winning proposals.
• Strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
• Self‑motivated, professional and comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new client opportunities while growing existing accounts.
• Act as the technical lead during early engagement, providing front‑end technical support.
• Prepare, manage and submit technical proposals, tenders and quotations.
• Lead and manage the Engineering Services bid process from opportunity to award.
• Work closely with internal Business Development, Engineering and Marketing teams.
• Maintain accurate opportunity and CRM data, including weighted forecasts.
• Represent the business professionally at client meetings, industry events and exhibitions.
• Provide market, competitor and client intelligence to support growth strategy.
• Travel to client sites across the UK as required.
