Job summary

Polaris Education - Becker School is seeking a One to One Teaching Assistant to support individual pupils or small groups in a nurturing environment in Leeds. The role is fixed-term, full-time during term time with a salary in the 21k–23k range.

The successful candidate will assist with lessons, monitor pupil progress, and help foster a safe, engaging learning environment for children aged 5–13. DBS clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of GCSE English Language and Mathematics with grade C or equivalent.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role.
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH is desirable.
• Willing to take on additional responsibilities (e.g., supervising activities).
• Must be ready to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (up to six).
• Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns; liaise with school staff.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time and on trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set work and mark it as appropriate.
• Build positive relationships and promote learning outcomes.
