Job summary

Polaris Education - Martha H School in Wigan is seeking a dedicated One to One Teaching Assistant to support a pupil or small group and work closely with the class teacher to promote positive learning outcomes.

The role is a 12-month fixed-term, term-time-only contract, full-time, with a salary of £21,257.48 to £23,232.69. You will contribute to a safe, nurturing environment and develop your skills within a long‑standing Polaris Community education service.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (minimum C)
• Experience as a teaching assistant or similar role
• Experience with SEMH pupils in an educational setting
• Willing to take additional responsibilities (lunchtimes, Forest School, etc.)
• Experience with behaviour management techniques
• Committed to professional development and lifelong learning
• Willing to undergo Enhanced DBS check before starting

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (up to six).
• Support the classroom teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and liaise with staff.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time and trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set work and provide marking where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships to promote engagement and learning outcomes
